"The field of visual effects Oscar contenders has been narrowed down to 15 titles, the academy announced Friday afternoon, with several expected films and a couple of surprises. Among the semi-finalists, chosen by the executive committee of the academy's visual effects branch, are Christopher Nolan's "Inception", Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" and Clint Eastwood's "Hereafter."In January, the list will be trimmed from 15 to seven titles, before the annoucement of the Academy Awards nominees on Jan. 25.
